JustSignal collects only what is necessary to operate the service: your email address, your stated preferences from onboarding, and interaction signals (such as articles you mark as Signal, suppress, save, or read).
You may sign in using Google Sign-In or Sign in with Apple. If you do, we receive your account email address and use it solely to identify your JustSignal account. If an account already exists with that email address, the sign-in method will be linked to it — no duplicate account is created and no existing data is affected. We do not receive your password or any other account data beyond your email address.
We do not link your Substack account. There is no OAuth connection or automated import from Substack. The only way to import your Substack subscriptions is by manually copying and pasting your subscription data — a voluntary action you initiate.
We use Google's Gemini AI to process your preferences and generate feed recommendations during onboarding. Your stated interests are sent to Gemini for this purpose.
The iOS app uses Stripe and RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases and subscriptions. If you subscribe via the iOS app, RevenueCat processes your purchase through Apple's in-app purchase system and Stripe may be used for direct billing. If you subscribe via the web, Stripe handles billing directly. Neither service receives your JustSignal content, preferences, or reading history.
We use PostHog for product analytics. PostHog collects anonymised usage events (such as pages visited and features used) to help us understand how the product is being used and where to improve it. PostHog does not receive your reading history, article content, or personal preferences.
We do not sell your data or share it with third parties beyond what is required to operate the service (Supabase for database hosting and authentication, Vercel for deployment, Google for sign-in and AI recommendations via Gemini, Apple for iOS sign-in and in-app purchases, RevenueCat for subscription management, Stripe for billing, and PostHog for product analytics).
